I am passionate about Paediatric Occupational Therapy, and feel very privileged to be in the position to support the learning and knowledge of Occupational Therapy students, by offering them a placement where they can learn about Paediatric OT and importantly put theory into practice.
I am so proud to be given this award! It is hard work having a student for 12 weeks - teaching them the knowledge they need to work with the children, whilst still doing my day to day job. My main focus is that the student not only learns but ENJOYS their placement, as this will have a huge impact on their opinion of Paediatric OT. This is a specialised field and is a HUGE learning curve.
You have been recognised as someone who has gone over and above the role of practice educator, giving generously of your time to share your knowledge and expertise in a specialist area of Occupational Therapy Practice. Your organisational and planning skills have been noted, together with your efforts to create learning which have enabled students to develop their knowledge base and apply theory to practice more readily as a result.
In essence, you provided the "best experience possible" are an " amazing and inspiring educator who has opened eyes to the range of places that OT'S can work"

We asked Ellie to come into school to work with pupils who had been identified as having Occupational Therapy needs in school. Ellie was able to provide tailor made programmes for pupils and carried out a class observation on another child to identify the types of equipment that really worked for them. With regular visits Ellie was able to review progress of these pupils, talk to staff running the programmes and make further suggestions to help. Ellie also reviewed our sensory circuits and handwriting skills in lower Key Stage 1, again making suggestions to improve each area further. Ellie is very personable, she provides really useful information and working in a school herself understands the pressures/constraints of classroom practice.
Feedback received after a sensory circuit training session with a local academy trust, supporting the set up of sensory circuits within both primary and secondary school settings.
"Thank you again for your fantastic training on sensory circuits. It was incredibly useful and I know everyone found it easy to apply into their own setting."
" Thank you so much for your Handwriting training session. Staff have commented how they found the knowledge you provided within the session to be so beneficial in supporting children with their handwriting."
